Therapist Spotlight: Meet Chris

  1. What inspired you to become a therapist?– My passion for athletics and lifting weights at the gym led me to feel very tense in my own body. Whilst researching the benefits of massage at university I was driven towards rehabilitation and massage therapy as I saw the value in helping others to achieve their health and fitness goals.
  2. Describe a moment in your career that made you feel truly proud.- whilst working at a women’s football team , it was an incredibly rewarding experience to see an athlete who had ruptured their ACL get back to match level play after a whole season out. Starting with simple muscle activation and range of motion exercises, I left the club at the end of the season and was able to see her back in her position as a striker, taking on the defence and keepers of the opposition with ease.
  3. What’s the most unusual or unexpected hobby you have? I like to go to the gym because it helps me stay physically fit and mentally refreshed. The variety of workouts keeps things interesting, from strength training to cardio. It’s also a great way to relieve stress, boost energy levels and achieve personal fitness goals. Plus, the sense of accomplishment after a good workout is incredibly rewarding.
  4. Share a quirky habit or guilty pleasure that your clients and colleagues might not know about. -watching breaking bad is my guilty pleasure because the intense, gripping storyline and complex characters keep me hooked. Despite its dark themes and morally ambiguous situations, the show’s brilliant writing and acting make it hard to look away. It’s a thrilling escape that lets me delve into a world vastly different from my own satisfying my curiosity and love for high stakes drama.
  5. Describe your perfect day off. What would you do? I would start the day with a cooked English breakfast, a glass of fresh orange juice and a morning workout. In an ideal world, I would live by the beach and soak up the Sun. And the perfect evening would be to spend it with friends or family around the campfire with some country music on. 🤠
  6. Can you share a memorable travel experience- one of my most memorable travel experiences was a trip to Orlando and Siesta Key in Florida. Visiting the theme parks in Orlando was highlight of the trip. It felt like being a kid again riding the rollercoasters and myself in the world of Harry Potter, superheroes and Disney. And then spent a week in Siesta Key where I was captivated by the powdery white sand of siesta Beach. It felt like fine cool sugar under my feet and the crystal clear waters were perfect for swimming. I spent leisurely days soaking up the sun and enjoying the vibrant local restaurants.
  7. If you could trade places with any fictional character for a week, who would it be and why? If I could switch place with a fictional character for a week I would switch places with Agent J from Men in Black. The idea of working as a secret agent in a world where extraterrestrial life exist is thrilling and fascinating. Agent Jay’s job is never boring. It involves intense missions, advanced alien technology and the opportunity to interact with being from across the universe. Not to mention how cool I would look in that suit 😎.
  8. What is your favourite quote or mantra that inspires you in life– one of my favourite quotes is by Maya Angelou: “ People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. This reminds me to always strive to make a positive impact on others and to approach interactions with kindness and empathy.
  9. If you could master any skill or talent overnight, what would it be and why? If I couldn’t master any skill, it would be speaking in multiple languages fluently. Being multilingual would open up a world of opportunities for communication, travel and cultural exchange. It would allow me to connect with people from diverse backgrounds on a deeper level, whether for personal relationships business interactions or whilst exploring new countries. This skill  would not only be practical and enriching, but also incredibly rewarding and exciting.
